Admission Requirements

  • To enrol, you should have previously completed a sport and/or science-related Aotearoa New Zealand degree, or equivalent, and normally should have achieved at least a B Grade Point Average in 300-level courses in the degree.
  • CAE or CPE: Score of 176 with a minimum of 169 in reading, writing, listening and speaking
  • IELTS Academic: An average score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6.0 in reading, writing, listening and speaking
  • NZAPA: English New Zealand Accredited Pathway Assessment Level 3
  • NZCEL: Level 5
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic): PTE with an overall score of 58
  • TOEFL iBT: Total minimum score of 90, minimum score of 19 in reading, writing and listening
  • SSCI403 Innovation in Sport and Exercise
  • SSCI407 Coaching Physical Performance
  • Project or dissertation: Choose one of the following: SSCI680 Sport Science Research Project (30 points) or SSCI681 Sport Science Dissertation (60 points)
  • Elective courses: Choose one of the following: EDME601 Understanding and Using Research in Education or HLTH464 Research Approaches for Health and Sport
  • Additional courses (depending on project or dissertation choice): Choose one or two from the following: HLTH430 Motivating Behaviour Change I, SSCI404 Advanced Internship for Sport Science, SSCI405 Special Topic: Psychology of Sport and Exercise, SSCI409 Extreme Sport Science
