Admission Requirements

An appropriate bachelor honours degree or a 480 credit bachelor’s degree or a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Psychometry with a minimum of 96 credits at NQF level 8 in the field of Industrial and Organisational Psychology with an average of at least 60%. This is a selection degree and a prerequisite for professional registration as an industrial and organisational psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). Prospective students who want to register for the coursework MCom degree in Industrial and Organisational Psychology will undergo a thorough selection process. Students are not allowed to take part in the selection process if they have not completed a research module on honours level. Information on the professional qualification will be available on the Department of Industrial and Organisational Psychology’s website. Students must apply online for a student number (where applicable) and apply for admission during the period 15 August to 16 September 2023.
All students with foreign qualifications, including those with qualifications from African countries, must have their qualifications evaluated at SAQA. (www.saqa.org.za)
In addition to the above requirements, applicants must submit a transcript or an academic record, as well as a document describing their intended research. Students will be accepted on the following criteria: suitability and viability of the intended research; adequate supervisory capacity and research expertise in the discipline or department as well as an approved selection procedure which is in line with Unisa’s policies on equality and diversity in the discipline or department.
