Admission Requirements

4-year bachelor’s degree in any branch of engineering or an engineering-related field.
Agreement to supervise from an academic of the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Applicants with a BTech qualification or a 4-year degree in a non-engineering field can be considered for admission with more than three years of engineering-related working experience. Submission of a “differently qualified form” is required.
Foreign qualifications must be evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA), and the outcome submitted as part of the application.

The MSc (Eng) coursework and research degree (ECA00). This requires the successful completion of five 20-credits courses and a 90-credits research project.
The MEng (Professional) degree (ECA01) consisting of seven 20-credits courses and a 45-cedits design project.
The MSc (Eng) research only degree (ERA00) that requires the completion of a 180-credits dissertation.
The PhD degree (EDA02) that requires the completion of a 360-credits thesis that includes significant original contribution to knowledge.
