Admission Requirements
- 4-year bachelor’s degree in any branch of engineering or an engineering-related field.
- Agreement to supervise from an academic of the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
- Applicants with a BTech qualification or a 4-year degree in a non-engineering field can be considered for admission with more than three years of engineering-related working experience. Submission of a “differently qualified form” is required.
- Foreign qualifications must be evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA), and the outcome submitted as part of the application.
- The MSc (Eng) coursework and research degree (ECA00). This requires the successful completion of five 20-credits courses and a 90-credits research project.
- The MEng (Professional) degree (ECA01) consisting of seven 20-credits courses and a 45-cedits design project.
- The MSc (Eng) research only degree (ERA00) that requires the completion of a 180-credits dissertation.
- The PhD degree (EDA02) that requires the completion of a 360-credits thesis that includes significant original contribution to knowledge.
