About this Study Course

As the world increasingly embraces green technology, the demand for mineral-based materials has witnessed global growth. Traditional metals and high-tech metals essential for applications like windmills and electric vehicles play a crucial role in shaping an environmentally sustainable future. While metal reuse remains integral, it alone cannot meet the escalating demand. The European Mining Course (EMC) steps in to address this challenge by training experts equipped with a diverse skill set to fulfill the continuously rising demand for metals and minerals.

Overview

A prosperous global society relies on a secure, environmentally sustainable, and cost-efficient supply of raw materials. The European Mining Course (EMC) stands at the forefront of meeting the challenges faced by the minerals industry today and in the future through dedicated research and development.

As the minerals industry expands, the need for skilled professionals in mining, mineral processing, and recycling becomes paramount. Future leaders must possess comprehensive knowledge and skills, including the ability to assess environmental impacts in mine project planning and production. EMC is designed to cultivate experts with proficiency in these areas, fostering international and multidisciplinary capabilities.

Admission Requirements

  • The bachelor’s degree must be equivalent to 180 ECTS credits or three years of full-time study.
  • The degree must give eligibility to apply for master’s degree studies at university in the awarding country.
IELTS Academic: overall score 6.5, and writing score 5.5.
  • TOEFL iBT (Internet-based Test): 92, and 22 for Writing
  • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE A): 62, and 54 for Writing

European Mining Course (EMC) is a two-year full-time Master’s  programme leading into triple degree. The programme is organised in international cooperation between three of Europe’s leading universities in mining and resource engineering: Aalto University (School of Engineering and School of Chemical Engineering Finland), Montanuniversität Leoben (MUL, Austria) and RWTH Aachen University (Germany). The programme is built on the strengths and the complementary areas of expertise of these universities in earth science studies and research.
