Dive into the world of languages with the Certificate in Languages (CertLang) at UC. This program offers four courses at the 100 and/or 200-level, providing a comprehensive foundation in your language of choice. With flexible study options ranging from six months full-time to five years part-time, you can tailor your learning experience to suit your schedule. No prior knowledge is required, making it accessible to learners of all backgrounds. By combining the CertLang with your other studies, you’ll not only gain proficiency in a new language but also enhance your future job prospects. Plus, credits earned from this certificate can be transferred to a Diploma in Languages or the Bachelor of Arts, offering seamless progression pathways for further education.
Admission Requirements
- Admission to UC with University Entrance (or equivalent) is required to enrol.
- CAE or CPE: Minimum score of 169 with at least 162 in reading, writing, listening and speaking
- IELTS Academic: Academic with an average score of 6.0, with a minimum of 5.5 in reading, writing, listeningNZAPA: English New Zealand Accredited Pathway Assessment Level 3
- NZCEL: Level 4 – Academic endorsement.
- Pearson Test of English (Academic): PTE with an overall score of 50
- TOEFL iBT: Total minimum score of 80, with at least 19 in reading, writing and listening
- The Certificate requires 60 points in total at 100 and/or 200-level.
- Choose from up to two of the nine languages offered at UC: Ancient Greek, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Latin, Russian, Spanish, Te Reo Māori.
