In our practice-based PhD program, you will undertake the translation of a significant source text ranging from 18,000 to 50,000 words, complemented by a critical commentary of no fewer than 50,000 words. This dual approach integrates rigorous research with practical application, fostering deep insights into both the creative and analytical dimensions of translation. Explore a diverse range of source materials, from literary works to academic texts, as you hone your expertise under the mentorship of esteemed scholars.

Admission Requirements

  • A good Honours degree (normally 2:1 or above) or equivalent in a relevant field
  • A Master’s qualification at Merit level or above (or its international equivalent) in a relevant area
  • Relevant academic and professional qualifications or experience considered advantageous

International students must demonstrate English proficiency (e.g., IELTS 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any band).
