This program empowers qualified teachers (QTS or QTLS) to gain specialized skills that profoundly impact children and the adults supporting them in educational settings. You will have the flexibility to engage with online materials at your own pace, supported by online tutorials and live lectures. Additionally, two face-to-face study weekends are essential to obtain the mandatory qualification, providing invaluable in-person interaction and learning opportunities. For those not seeking QTMSI status, the MA Education of Learners with Multi-Sensory Impairment/Deafblindness is available, welcoming professionals from diverse backgrounds dedicated to supporting children with sensory impairments.

Admission Requirements

  • First degree, diplomas, or five years of relevant professional experience, training, or qualifications.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teaching and Learning Skills (QTLS) status.
  • Minimum of one year’s teaching experience.
  • Mentor support from a qualified teacher of children with multi-sensory impairment (Deafblindness).
  • Paid employment or formalized volunteer role involving regular and ongoing teaching of children with multi-sensory impairment.
  • Satisfactory Enhanced DBS check with barred list for children and adults.
  • IELTs 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in each band or equivalent for non-native English speakers.
