Our faculty comprises a diverse group of composers, performers, and scholars whose research spans a wide array of musical genres and disciplines. From popular and electronic music to Western Art Music (including Medieval, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and contemporary periods), our expertise also extends to music analysis, psychology, critical theory, British music, ethnomusicology, and sound studies. Admission Requirements

  • A good Honours degree (normally a 2:1 or above) in Music or a related subject for MA by Research programs, or an equivalent qualification if educated outside the UK.
  • For PhD applicants, a good Master’s qualification in Music or a related subject.
  • Relevant professional experience or qualifications may be considered and can form an integral part of the entrance requirements.
  • For distance learning research programs, applicants must demonstrate time, commitment, facilities, and experience necessary for distance learning.
