Overview

The MRes Late Antiquity program is designed to equip you with the skills necessary for both advanced doctoral study and a dynamic career in historical research. You’ll undertake a major individual research project under the guidance of a leading specialist, complemented by a taught component that sharpens your research and analytical skills. Our outstanding research resources, including extensive periodical collections and major online databases, will support your studies. Admission Requirements

  • A good (normally a 2:1 or above) Honours degree, or an equivalent qualification in a relevant area.
  • For PhD applicants, a Master’s qualification at Merit level or above is typically required.
  • Relevant academic and professional qualifications or experience are considered.
  • For distance learning, demonstrate the ability to study independently with necessary resources.
  • International qualifications are accepted; refer to the university’s guide for specific details.
  • English language requirements: IELTS 6.5 (with no less than 6.0 in any band), TOEFL 88, Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic 59, or Cambridge English Advanced with a minimum score of 176. An English for Academic Purposes Presessional Course is available if needed.
