The School of Biosciences at the University of Birmingham is internationally recognized as a center of excellence in molecular and cellular biology. This intensive MRes program is meticulously designed to prepare students for a successful career in research and its applications. Over the course of a year, students receive comprehensive training and hands-on research experience, culminating in the award of an MRes degree. The program welcomes applicants from diverse scientific backgrounds, including Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, and other Life Sciences. While EU and international students are encouraged to apply, it’s important to note that external funding will be necessary. Admission Requirements
- A first- or upper second-class Honours degree in a relevant field such as Biochemistry, Biology, or other life sciences. Applications from those with backgrounds in the physical sciences are also welcome.
- English language requirements for international students:
- IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any band
- TOEFL: 80 overall with no less than 19 in Reading, 19 in Listening, 21 in Speaking, and 19 in Writing
- Pearson Test of English (PTE) including online: Academic 64 with no less than 59 in all four skills
- Cambridge English (exams taken from 2015): Advanced – minimum overall score of 169, with no less than 162 in any component
