Our MSc by Research is a one-year program designed for those with an upper second-class Honours degree in science or engineering. It involves an extensive period of advanced research, culminating in a 30,000-word thesis. By joining our program, you will become part of a proactive research environment, supported by the University Graduate School, which fosters connections among researchers.
The School of Metallurgy and Materials boasts cutting-edge facilities, including the Manufacturing Technology Centre and the High Temperature Research Centre, a joint venture with Rolls Royce. Our laboratories are equipped for materials preparation, surface engineering, and advanced materials processing. Admission Requirements
- PhD candidates: Upper second-class Honours degree or equivalent in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or Engineering.
- MSc by Research candidates: Good Honours degree or equivalent.
- English language qualifications for non-native speakers: IELTS 6.0 (minimum 5.5 in any band), TOEFL 80 (minimum 19 in Reading, 19 in Listening, 21 in Speaking, 19 in Writing), PTE Academic 64 (minimum 59 in all skills), or Cambridge English Advanced (minimum 169 overall, 162 in any component).
