About this Study Course
Step into the forefront of midwifery research with our Master of Science program. Designed for aspiring midwives with a first degree, this course offers a unique opportunity to cultivate advanced research skills. Under the guidance of experienced supervisors, you’ll delve into an approved research subject, empirically investigating aspects of midwifery practice to expand the understanding and knowledge within the field. The program comprises two key components: a 10 ECTS research methods study unit and an 80 ECTS dissertation, providing a robust framework for in-depth exploration and scholarly inquiry.

Throughout this program, you’ll acquire and apply essential skills related to literature review, research methodology selection, data generation, proposal development, and dissertation writing at a Master’s level. Beyond academia, you’ll gain valuable experience in presenting your research to peers and contributing to the evolving evidence base of the midwifery profession.
Admission Requirements
- the degree of Bachelor of Science (Honours) obtained with at least Second Class (Honours) from the Faculty of Health Sciences in an area of study which should be directly related to the area in which the research is to be carried out or
- a Bachelor’s degree obtained with at least a Second Class (Honours) in a discipline deemed by the Board as being closely related to the area of study in which the research is to be carried out or
- a qualification deemed by Senate, on the recommendation of the Board, to be equivalent to the qualifications listed in (a) and (b).
