The Integrated PhD in Life Sciences Doctoral Training Programme (iDTP) offers a distinctive educational journey, allowing you to explore various disciplines during your first year while formulating your own doctoral research proposal. Throughout the program, you will enhance your problem-solving, analytical, communication, teaching, leadership, and management skills—qualities highly prized in both academic and private sectors. In the first year, you will design your PhD research proposal alongside your supervisor, taking 70 credits of taught modules to gain core scientific knowledge and research methods. Additionally, you will undertake 110 credits of research, selecting two distinct research rotations within leading research groups. From Years 2 to 4, you will join your supervisor’s team, attend training sessions hosted by the Graduate School, and present your research at national and international conferences, solidifying your place in the global scientific community.
Admission Requirements
- A First or Upper Second Class Honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant biological or life sciences subject.
- Alternative qualifications or evidence of experience that indicate potential for research.
- English Language Requirements: IELTS 6.5 overall, with no less than 6.0 in any band. Alternatively, successful completion of the English for Academic Purposes Presessional course
