About this Study Course

Our online Dyslexia and Literacy Difficulties (ATS/APS) and Dyslexia and Literacy Difficulties (AMBDA) programmes are designed to equip practitioners with the skills and knowledge to critically evaluate and implement evidence-based practices supporting learners with dyslexia and other literacy difficulties. As the field of literacy education evolves, these programmes provide you with the latest research and methodologies to address literacy challenges effectively. Imagine being part of a community dedicated to transforming the educational experiences of learners with dyslexia, where you can make a significant impact by applying innovative strategies and insights.

Overview

The PG Certificate Dyslexia and Literacy Difficulties (ATS/APS) and PG Certificate Dyslexia and Literacy Difficulties (AMBDA) courses lead to Accredited Teacher Status (ATS) or Accredited Practitioner Status (APS), and Associate Member of the BDA (AMBDA). These qualifications enable you to work with and assess learners with literacy difficulties and dyslexia in schools and higher education institutions. Accredited by the BDA, the course draws on a wealth of research literature and policy to explore typical literacy development and identify literacy difficulties.

You will engage in current debates on dyslexia, critically evaluating various theories behind literacy difficulties. The programme supports you in designing, implementing, and evaluating individual literacy programmes across diverse learning environments. The AMBDA option further enhances your expertise in psychometric testing and assessment. Delivered entirely online, this programme allows you to study from anywhere, providing the flexibility to balance your professional and personal commitments.

Students who complete the PGCert can pursue additional modules in the second and third years, including a dissertation, to attain an MA Inclusion (Dyslexia and Literacy Difficulties – ATS/APS) or MA Inclusion (Dyslexia and Literacy Difficulties – AMBDA). This pathway ensures a comprehensive understanding and mastery of literacy difficulties, preparing you for advanced roles in education and assessment.
