The MRes in Clinical Health Research offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with experienced research staff on established projects. Our program is particularly focused on research in palliative and end-of-life care across various healthcare settings and spans the entire lifespan. Additionally, we support projects related to the organization and delivery of healthcare services, as well as issues of risk, abuse, and violence.

Health research is indispensable to society, providing critical insights into disease trends, treatment outcomes, public health interventions, and healthcare utilization. This program aligns with the National Institute for Health and Care Research’s vision to embed a research culture within health and care organizations, improving patient care and expanding treatment options. Admission Requirements

  • A 2:1 honours degree (or equivalent) in a healthcare-related subject (e.g., medical, nursing, midwifery, allied health professions, pharmacy, healthcare science).
  • Alternatively, postgraduate qualification and/or substantial relevant experience in a healthcare-related area.
  • Evidence of capability to study at master’s level, demonstrated by completion of at least one master’s level module for those without a first degree.
  • Current registration with an appropriate healthcare regulatory body (e.g., NMC, GMC, BPS, HCPC).
  • Access to a research population.
  • Minimum of 18 months post-qualification experience.
  • Two academic/employer references supporting your application and professional/academic capabilities.
  • Certified transcripts of your degrees, translated into English if necessary.
  • For international students, adherence to specific country qualifications and English language requirements (IELTS 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component or equivalent scores in other recognized tests).
