Overview

Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death globally, posing significant challenges and opportunities for research and innovation. Our MRes program is tailored to start postgraduate scientists on their journey to uncover the mechanisms of cardiovascular diseases and develop effective treatments. Combining taught modules with extensive research components, you’ll delve into cardiovascular biology, clinical cardiology, and advanced research skills. You’ll engage in seminars, journal clubs, and practical skill sessions to build a comprehensive understanding of the field. For eight months, you’ll join a research team, conducting independent research on pivotal cardiovascular issues. This blend of academic learning and practical experience ensures you are well-prepared for a career in cardiovascular research or further studies.

Admission Requirements

  • A good BSc Honours degree, normally first or upper second class, in a science subject (e.g., Biomedical Science, Biology, Biochemistry).
  • Other equivalent qualifications and work experience will also be considered.
  • All suitable applicants will be interviewed, either face-to-face or by Skype/conference call.

International Students:

  • English language requirement: IELTS 7.0 (with a minimum of 6.5 in each component), TOEFL 100 overall, PTE Academic 68 with no less than 64 in all skills, or Cambridge English Advanced with a minimum score of 185.
  • An Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) certificate from the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.
