Transitioning from traditional mechanical devices to “smart” technologies and novel therapeutics, there is a high demand for innovation and R&D in the medical and biotechnology industries. This program addresses the skill gap by training future innovators and entrepreneurs to drive impactful change in healthcare.

Leveraging our strengths in data science, engineering, healthcare technologies, mathematical modeling, and medicine, the curriculum provides training in identifying unmet medical needs, inventing new solutions, and implementing them in healthcare environments. Admission Requirements

  • A 2:1 undergraduate Honours degree in health sciences, engineering, life sciences, biotechnology, information technology, computer and data sciences, mathematics, medicine, business, or other relevant subjects.
  • Relevant experience may be considered for those who do not meet the academic requirement. Contact us to discuss your suitability.
  • An individual interview or group assessment (in-person or online) for eligible applicants.
  • For international students:
    • IELTS 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any band.
    • TOEFL: 88 overall with no less than 21 in Reading, 20 in Listening, 22 in Speaking, and 21 in Writing.
    • Pearson Test of English (PTE): PTE Academic 67 with no less than 64 in all four skills.
    • Cambridge English: Advanced – minimum overall score of 176, with no less than 169 in any component.
  • If you do not meet the language requirement, you can enroll in our English for Academic Purposes Presessional Course to fulfill the requirement without taking an additional qualification.
  • BioInnovation I: Research Methodologies and Practices of Needs-led BioInnovation (20 credits)
  • Novel Medical Technology Assessment and Identifying the Need for Improved Medical Devices (20 credits)
  • BioInnovation II: Ideation and Design methodologies for Translation from Idea to Impact (20 credits)
  • Improving Quality and Patient Safety in novel medical technology use (20 credits)
  • BioInnovation III: Project [Project and Dissertation/Report] (60 credits)
