Digital Arts, a specialized program that seamlessly intertwines Electrical Engineering and Digital Arts courses, is your gateway to a career in game design and development. This collaboration between the Wits School of Arts and the School of Electrical and Information Engineering sets the stage for a transformative educational experience.
Upon completing the BEngSc in Digital Arts, you can seamlessly transition into the third year of the BSc(Eng) (Electrical) or (Information Engineering) option or venture into the Honours course in Digital Arts. The BEngSc (Digital Arts) aims to produce graduates who excel as specialist practitioners in software development within a gaming context.
Half of your courses will take place in the School of Electrical and Information Engineering, covering Physics, Mathematics, Electric Circuits, Software Development, and Electromagnetic Systems with Game Design as the core subject. The program introduces you to both hardware and software environments, emphasizing the development of a diverse portfolio of both analogue and digital games. An intriguing aspect of the course involves exploring alternative game controllers, using your knowledge of circuitry and programming skills to redefine the nature of play and interaction in games.
