Embark on a transformative journey in the field of Applied Geosciences with our Master of Science (M.Sc.) program at KIT. Over four semesters (two years), our program offers a practice and research-oriented qualification, focusing on three distinct fields: Sustainable Energy, Raw Materials, and Storage; Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology; and Mineralogy and Geochemistry. Overview
In the “Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology” profile, students master classical methods alongside modern techniques in geothermal energy, groundwater assessment, and numerical modeling. Graduates are equipped to work in environmental consultancies, government agencies, industries, and research institutions, contributing to sustainable infrastructure development and resource management.
In the “Mineralogy and Geochemistry” profile, students delve into the composition and behavior of Earth materials, gaining expertise in analytical techniques and environmental implications. Graduates are prepared for careers in research, exploration, and environmental assessment, utilizing their skills to address global challenges related to resource utilization and environmental sustainability.
Admission Requirements
- Above-average bachelor’s degree in applied geosciences or related field
- Minimum credit points in geosciences, physics/chemistry, and mathematics
- Language proficiency in German (B1-level) or English (B2-level)

- Map Charting and Geodata Processing
