In 2006-2007, the American College in the Emirates (ACE) was established with a focus on providing two-year associate degrees in fields such as media, information technology, business, and design. The inaugural intake comprised 40 students, but the institution faced challenges as over 50% of students dropped out due to difficulties with English language and mathematics competency. Despite this setback, the institution persisted in its mission to offer quality education and prepare students for successful employment and higher education opportunities.Moving into 2008-2009, the global financial crisis impacted Dubai and the Gulf region, leading to economic challenges for businesses and organizations. Despite this, the Board of Trustees made the strategic decision to transition ACE into offering full bachelor’s degree programs. This shift was motivated by the need to meet evolving market demands and equip graduates with enhanced skills and competencies to navigate the changing economic landscape.By 2009-2010, AUE achieved accreditation for its bachelor’s programs in Media Studies, Business Science, Computer Science, and Design. This marked a significant milestone in the institution's history, signaling its commitment to academic excellence and program quality. Additionally, the College of Business Administration (COBA) began offering a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with multiple specializations, including unique options like Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Insurance and Risk Management, and Hospital and Healthcare Management, distinguishing AUE in the UAE and the broader region.In the academic year 2022-2023, AUE reached noteworthy achievements, hosting the 5th AUE International Research Conference and the 2nd International Academic Gathering for Security and Cooperation (IAGSC). These events served as platforms for researchers and scholars to share insights, discuss recent developments, and address challenges across various disciplines. The university's dedication to research, collaboration, and leadership development was evident in its successful organization of these gatherings, highlighting AUE's continued growth and recognition in the academic community.
